General Notes:
I was most fortunate to have been forwarded a copy of a family file on The Warrick Family compiled and researched by The Reverend Arnold Frazer McRae of Montgomery, AL just before he passed away. Rev McRae was most interested in family research and his efforts spanned over fifty years. He spent countless hours in research and travel to the North Carolina Archives. Unfortunately, I received his file, but not his notes and resources.
Much of the information on this Warrick family is from the family file of Rev. Mcrae along with some information obtained from the article in The Pike Heritage Book by Ann Warren McSwean titled "Warrick Family" and also personal research.
There seems to be a disagreement among Warrick Researchers as to who the father of Dempsey Warrick is. Some say John. Some say Wyatt. Perhaps, even both versions are correct as Wyatt most suredly had another name. Maybe John Wyatt. I have used Rev. McRae's version of Wyatt. My personal research at this point leans toward Rev. McRae's version.
Research Notes:
Family File of Rev. Arnold McRae Sr. North Carolina Pension Roll of 1835 Pension Record of Sarah Wilson Warrick, 2nd wife of Wyatt 1786 Wayne Co. NC Tax List 1800 Wayne Co. NC Census 1810 Wayne Co. NC Census 1820 Wayne Co. NC Census The Army Accounts of the North Carolina Line Dobbs Co. NC, Dobbs Militia 1781
Documents of Military Service indicate that Wyatt Warrick served as a private in Captain Benjamin Coleman's North Carolina Company and in Colonel Lytle's 6th North Carolina Regiment. He is listed in records as Wiatt, Wiat, Wiot, Wyatt Warwick, Worrick and Warrick. He was pensioned Wiat Warwick.
The second wife of Wyatt Warrick was Mrs. Sarah Wilson, her maiden name being unknown and previously married to an unknow Wilson with one daughter named Sarah or Sally Wilson.
The pension application for Sarah Wilson Warrick states that there were no children by the marriage of Sarah and Wyatt, but Wyatt had several children by his first marriage. The only child identified in the pension as a child of Wyatt was that of a John Warrick. It was also mentioned that there was a Jacob Warrick present at the marriage of Sarah Wilson and Wyatt Warrick, but no relationship to this Jacob was determined.
Wyatt married Jane DEMPSEY. (Jane DEMPSEY was born about 1756 in Bertie, NC and died about 1790 in NC.)
Wyatt next married Mrs. Sarah WILSON on 25 Dec 1790 in Wayne Co. NC. (Mrs. Sarah WILSON was born about 1763 in Unknown and died after 1843 in Wayne Co. NC.)
