1870 Pike Co. Al Census in home of Elizabeth Bray
1880 Pike Co. AL Census in home of Grandfather William M. Bray
1900/1910/1920 Pike Co. AL Census
Deeds from William M. Bray to John Bray Jr. and Fannie Thomas listed as grandson and grandaughter to what is apparenty ajoining land and being in NW1/4 of SW1/4 S25 T8 R22 and dated 24May1890.
The death certificate says that his mother is unknown, but list a father that is very hard to read. My best guess is that it says his father is "Bunion". I am sure that is a nickname as Bray research has uncovered no such name.
The death certificate also states that he was buried at Friendship Church and on 29 Feb 1926. Legacy determined this to be an invalid date, so unless 1926 was a leap year then burial would be on 01 Mar 1926.
Research for Friendship Church located on highway 125 south of Brundidge indicates that burials for that church were actualy made in the cemetery of Shady Grove Church across the street from Frienship.
A field trip to the Shady Grove Cemetery in Mar 2009, with the help of James F. Bray (grandson of John N. Bray) revealed two concrete slabs with hard to read handwriting in the concrete. The writing appears to say J.N. Bray age 58 and M.A. Bray 55. Slabs are side by side.
