bullet  Research Notes:

Irvin Jackson and Kizzy Bryant Jackson had the following children according to the 1870 and 1880 Pike Co. AL Census: James/Eliza/Margaret/John & Henry. 1870 census indicates James born about 1865 and 1880 census indicates James born about 1867. The middle initial of James does not show up as being James R. but Irvin's dad was James R. Jackson.

The Jacksons, Bryants, Brays and Thomases were closely entwined and seem to move with each other. The 1890's showed a large influx into Geneva county from Pike,Coffee and Dale. All the Bryant's moved at that time receiving land patents for Geneva County. I find that there was also a land patent for James R. Jackson for Geneva County AL 22 Oct 1894 and later a land patent for James R. Jackson for Walton Co. FL 12 May 1899. There is also a patent for Irvin Jackson for same date, and same section, township and range in Walton Co. FL. Apparently James took over his dad's original patent.

In a deed titled Bryant Heirs Geneva Co. AL book J pg 330-335, there is a listing of all Bryant heirs for Emeline Bryant. Kizzy Bryant Jackson is apparently deceased so inheritance falls to her children. Listed are James and Caroline Jackson, Walton Co. FL, Margaret and William Grant, Geneva Co. AL, Henry and Amanda Jackson State unknown, Eliza Jane Jackson state unknown.

Birth and death information for James R. Jackson and Caroline Bray Jackson supplied by Ron Slay of Florida, and verified by tomb records from Walton County Genweb.

The marriage license for James R. Jackson and Caroline Bray was bonded by the groom as well as Ervin Jackson. Record as to ages of parties, consent of parents or guardian indicates "Personal consent of father of man, woman of age" The marriage was performed at the residence of James Hill. James Hill married Sarah "Sallie" Bray sister of Lucy M. Caroline "Callie" Bray.

By the groom having to have consent of father, would indicate that he was under 21. Woman of age would indicate she was 18 or older.

1930 Walton Co. FL census indicated that James R. Jackson was 63 years old which would make him born about 1867 that matches 1880 Pike Co. AL census. 1930 census says James married at age 18 and Callie was 65 years old married at age 20.
